-The Ministry-

Ministry: we're not in it for the income. We're in it for the outcome.

I believe every Christian has the responsibility to minister to others. To tell others the gospel, to show love and compassion, to help the unhelped, reach the unreached, and touch the untouched.

My church has a bus and homeless ministry. I grew up with drunks and druggies singing hymns a few pews behind me. I used to help serve food to alcoholics, drug users, homeless, and sometimes mentally ill people. I grew up around bus kids. Kids with different shades of skin, who had no family, no money, and hardly any clothes or food. To be honest, this has never bothered me. One of my best friends growing up was a bus kid, Alyssa. She had a smile and laugh that could melt a cold, hard heart. I befriended a homeless man, Bro. Arther, and found out he was a Christian who became homeless under bad circumstances. I say all that because if it wasn't for the grace of God, I would be coming on the bus with them. I don't look at these people as though I were higher and better than them. I look at them as people who need the same loving Saviour I do. The same grace and mercy I need.
A lot of people don't like the fact that my church has these ministries. People think that "those kind of people" shouldn't come and be near the rest of us. If it wasn't for the sweet and loving grace of God, we would be "those kind of people" as well.
||But by the (grace) of God I am what I am|| 1 Corinthians 15:10

On Sunday's I help in the bus ministry. Lately, I have lost my zeal and excitement to do anything in the bus ministry. I have felt like I'm not doing anything that has effect on people. I hate to say it, but I've just gotten tired. Tired of doing anything. I just wanna come home and avoid everything and quit.
Well, a few Sunday's ago I got a note from one of the classes. It had the names of all the kids and at the bottom it said, "thank you! God loves you." I also got another that told me how well I sing and how good it was. To most people that is so meaningless. But I cried reading them both. Then a Sunday later, a little boy I had never even seen before, came up to the piano, and gave me the biggest hug I had ever gotten. And a little girl told me she loved me before she left.
It was like the Lord slapped me in the face and said "you wanna quit on them now?"
The Lord has completely changed my heart and attitude. I can't wait to go back!!! I'm going to throw myself in there and help in any way that I can!
These kids need love. They need Jesus. Who will tell them if I don't?
Ministry is not a job or Sunday routine. It's a privilege to be chosen and used by Jesus.

I'm sorry this post has been scattered and mostly pointless. But what I mainly want to say is; don't give up.
Sure some of them come with snotty noises and mean attitudes. Sure people will slam the door in your face, or throw away that gospel track you gave them. But the people who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways.
We ourselves have not always been the greatest either, yet Christ has had compassion on us.
||To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceiving, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and hating one another.|| Titus 3:2-3

I just want to show these children, and sinners, the love of Christ. I can't change the world, only Jesus can. But I can make a difference and change the world for one person at a time.
So I hope you join me this new year in 2015 and reach the unreached, and touch the untouched. Love the most unlovable person and see what can come of it.
I love being in the ministry. I'm so glad God renewed the spark in me.
He can do the same for you!
I hope this helped in some kind of way.

God bless!

Don't forget Jesus this Christmas

Christmas is next week! Where has the time gone?  It seems like just yesterday it was Thanksgiving! As Christmas approaches, we find ourselves rushing about, trying to pick up last minute Christmas gifts, bake treats, etc... We find ourselves so busy that we forget the true meaning of the season, celebrating Christ's birth! I'm guilty of it too! Let's not forget the meaning of the season this week no matter how busy it gets!

                       Don't Forget Jesus
                       By: M.S. Lowndes
Christmas is a special time to reflect on Jesus Christ. The wonder of His lowly birth brings meaning to our lives.

There really is no other reason we celebrate this day. The birth of God's precious son, and the life He willingly gave.

But so much seems to distract us in the bustling of our lives. We lose our focus in all the happenings, not knowing we leave out Christ.

We lose sight of the true meaning as we endlessly rush about. Trying to find that perfect gift seems to cloud our Savior out.

We need to stop and reflect awhile, remembering our precious Lord. His birth, His life, and sacrifice, and all that He stands for.

For though the world may celebrate it seems for other reasons, let's keep in mind that Jesus Christ is the true meaning of the season.

Merry Christmas and God Bless!! ;)

-Being a Giver-

A while back at my church we had our missions conference. Our guest preacher Bro Brian Coates preached on "Giving" and it was one of the best messages I have ever heard on the matter. It's been on my heart a lot lately and I want to share with you the outline of the message and the verse he read from. It was a blessing to me and I hope it's a blessing to you!

Everyone must embrace giving.
Everyone must increase giving.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJV)
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grungingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

1. Personal giving.
"Every man..."

2. Purposeful giving.
"...according as he purposeth..."

3. Precious giving.
"...in his heart..."

4. Persistent giving.
"...so let him give..."

5. Powerful giving.
"...not grungingly or of necessity..."

6. Protected giving.
"...for God loveth a cheerful giver."

"I want to give what I can, while I can, so that when I cannot, I will not wish I would have, when I could have."
-Dr. Stinnett Ballew

We should always strive to give our all in everything and anything we are doing!

 God bless!

{Why fit in, when you were born to stand out?}

In Titus 2:14 it says we were created to be a peculiar people zealous of good works. We were created to stand out and be different by the good things that we do. I wanted to share a couple ways we can Stand...

1. Stand out for God
Don't be ashamed to say that you are a Christian serving the only, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God.

2. Stand in the Gap (Ezekiel 22:30
What stands between your friend, relative, coworker and Hell? You do! Don't let them fall over the cliff of sin and death. Be part of the fence to keep them out. Also, stand in the gap to prevent satanic influence from penetrating the Christian Faith. Don't let the world into Christianity.

3. Stand up for Good
We were made to stand out, not look like everyone else in the world. (Matthew 5:16) We were made to stand out from world, so be careful who you're around and trying to look like. You will learn from the people you are with, and eventually look and act like them. (If you don't believe me, go to Church and watch the ladies with their hairstyles.) Paul told the Church at Corinth to submit to people that had addicted themselves to the ministry; people who were on fire for God; the reason being, if you are around people on fire, you will catch on fire yourself. "...they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) That ye submit yourselves unto such..." (I Corinthians 16:15-16

Have a grand day, and God bless!!:)

-Faith-

Faith. We sing songs about it. We have all the verses highlighted and underlined. But are we living it out?

The beginning point of faith is believing in Gods character: He is who he says.
The end point is believing in Gods promises: He will do what he says.
When we believe that God will fulfill his promises even though we don't see those promises materializing yet, we demonstrate true faith.
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Hebrews 11 "The hall of Faith" is one of my favorite passages in the bible. I encourage you to go read it! It's always a blessing to me.

Here are some names mentioned in the hall of faith.

Abel
Enoch
Noah
Abraham
Sarah
Isaac
Jacob
Joseph
Moses
Rahab

Hebrews 11:1-40
These verses summarize the lives of great men & women of faith. Some experienced outstanding victories, even over the threat of death. But others were severely mistreated, tortured, and even killed. Having a steadfast faith in God does not guarantee a happy, care free life. On the contrary, our faith almost guarentees us some form of abuse from the world. While we are on earth, we may never see the purpose of our suffering. But we know that God will keep his promises to us. Do you believe he will keep his promises to you? Have faith and trust in HIM. He is the author and finisher of our our faith.

God bless! :)

*Lessons from a Pencil Box*

We are like Pencils! Strange, I know, but we are!! I'd like to point out just a few ways that we can relate to a pencil!

1. Everything we do leaves a mark.
If I take a piece of paper and a pencil, and I run the lead on the paper, what will it do? It will leave a mark. Just as everything we do leaves a mark.
What kind of mark are we leaving?
When we speak kind words, treat people good, etc...we leave a good mark!
Likewise, if we speak bad/mean words, treat people bad, etc...we leave a bad mark!
No matter what we do, it will leave a mark. It's up to you what kind of mark you will leave.

2. We all must experience painful sharpenings.
If a pencil wasn't sharpened, would it do me any good? No, it must be sharpened no matter how bad it "hurts". It's the same with us! When I was a kid, I didn't necessarily like getting in trouble. (Who does?!) but now I realize that that is what helps me grow and be a better person.

3. To be the very best pencil we can be, we must be guided by the hand that holds us.
If I set my pencil down on the table, will it do anything on it's own? Will it go write a paper for me? No! My hand must be holding and guiding it. Just as God guides us!! Psalms 48:14, I love this verse!! It says God will be our guide even unto death! He guides us in different ways...
A: In our daily walk with Him
B: Through trials and hard times
  C: For our Future

4. What is inside? If the lead was not in the pencil, would it do us any good? No, of course not. We have to have the lead. There are things we need in us as well.
 A: Christ
 B: Love
 C: Joy
 D: Kindness
  and many more!!! {Galatians 5:22-23}

Hope this was a blessing!! God bless!! :)

-No Not One-

I've had this song in my heart all day. Often times in church or at home we just sing the old hymns or play them....
But we never stop to fully realize how much truth and power is in them. I'm so thankful I stopped and listened to this one today. So thankful HES BEEN FAITHFUL!!! He's been a friend like I've never known. Hes been the best friend I could ever ask for!! He's been good!!

There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases, No, not one! No, not one!

Refrain

Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!

No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! No, not one!

Refrain

There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! No, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! No, not one!

Refrain

Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
No, not one! No, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one! No, not one!

Refrain

Was ever a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one! No, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in Heaven?
No, not one! No, not one!

So thankful I have a friend like Jesus!!!

        God Bless Yall!

Will You Raise the Bar?

When an athlete is trying to get better, they don’t just keep doing the same thing over and over again.
They push themselves; lift heavier weights, run a tad faster, or in the case of a pole vaulter, they Raise the Bar.
They don’t just keep jumping over the same bar at the same height. They raise it, because that will prompt them to go higher. It is the motivation that they need to perform.
Christians need to Raise the Bar on our lives as well.
We don’t know our Bible like we should. We haven’t reached enough souls for Christ, we haven’t pushed ourselves to be the best that we can be for Him.
So, what do we need to be able to Raise the Bar?
  1. We need the Character to Live Right
    1. Be Willing to Please Him. (Live my life for His glory)
    2. Be Willing to Stand Out. (Not worry about fitting in)
    3. Be Willing to Stand Against Sin. (Not worried about keeping friends)
  1. We need the Courage to Dream Big.
    1. Have Dreams that are Inspired by His Word.
    2. Have Dreams that are Compatible with His Word.
  1. We need the Conviction to Keep Going.
    1. We will face Tests of Adversity. (Don’t give in to pressure)
    2. We will face Tests of Prosperity. (Don’t sell out for Money)
    3. We will face Tests of Purity. (Don’t sacrifice your Future for the Immediate)
If you are looking for motivation to Raise the Bar, you need look no further than the Cross. Ask yourself: What can you Raise the Bar on? How will you do it?

-Thankfulness-

Hey y'all! It's finally November! That means thanksgiving is just around the corner. Thanksgiving and Christmas are two of my favorite seasons. The time spent with family, the decorations, the old traditions, and my favorite, the FOOD. (Can I get an amen right there?!)

Well in all the hustle and bustle over what turkey to buy, we forget the whole meaning of thanksgiving: thankfulness.

We get so busy and stressed about what gravy to choose, or what rolls to make, we forget how blessed we are.
I could go on and on about Gods blessings! Especially this year. The Lord has just been pouring them down on me even when I didn't realize it! My heart is overflowing with greatfulness it's bound to run over any minute now.

So in all the mayhem have you taken the time to think how blessed you are? Have you thought to express your thankfulness to the Lord?

I'm so guilty of this myself.
I get so blessed and the Lord really works in my life.... But I don't thank him. How crazy is that?
The one who loves me most and cares for me so much, blesses me more than I could EVER deserve, and I forget to thank him...

This year I am challenging myself to be thankful. To think of things in a different perspective this thansgiving. To express thankfulness.

Here are five ways we can be thankful.

1. We can be thankful that God still answers prayer.
Isaiah 65:23; John 11:41 (KJV)

2. We can be thankful for Gods provisions.
1Thessalonians 5:17-18; 1 Timothy 4:4-5 (KJV)

3. We can be thankful for Gods blessings.
1 Coronicles 16:34; Philippians 4:6 (KJV)

4. We can be thankful for Gods character and wonderous works.
Psalms 7:17;  2 Corinthians 9:15; Revelation 11:17 (KJV)

5. We can be thankful for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:4; Ephesians 1:16; Philippians 1:3-5 (KJV)

God Bless y'all!

Who Are You Blinging For?

The term Bling refers to the light reflected by a diamond, it is a type of shine that denotes value. Do we only shine for God when we feel like it? Or when it is convenient? Or in front of certain people?
When we shine, it should be for His honor and His glory, and not for our own. Don't call attention to yourself, call attention to Him.
Jesus told us that we should "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16) So ask yourself, Who are you blinging for?

Beware of selfish bling. (Shining for self and not God)
Let it all be about Jesus.
Influence others to shine.
Never hide your bling.
Go let your bling shine.

God Bless and have a great day!

-Bitterness-

I believe bitterness is one of the main causes of all the problems we have in our life, and our churches.
We are so full of bitterness caused by pride and a hateful cold heart, we let it spread and devour us.
My Preacher always says, "Bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting the other guy to die."
By being bitter we are doing nothing but hindering our own walk with God and others.

Hebrews 12:15 KJV
"Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you..."

like a small root that grows into a great tree, bitterness springs up in our hearts and overshadows even our deepest Christian relationships.
A "root of bitterness" comes when we allow disappointment to grow into resentment, or when we nurse grudges over past hurts.
Bitterness brings with it:
                   •Jealousy
                    •Dissension
                      •Immorality
                           and so much more.
We need to pray daily The Lord will keep our hearts from turning bitter, and ask Him to heal the poision of our pride.

Genesis 33:1-11 KJV

Life can bring us some bad and difficult situations. We can feel cheated as Esau did, but we don't have to remain bitter.
We can remove bitterness from our lives by honestly expressing our feeling to God, forgiving those who have wronged us, and being content with what we have.

Ephesians 4:31-32 KJV
"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christs sake hath forgiven you."

God bless & thank you for reading!

This little light of mine...

{Matthew 5:16}
In the sin darkened world today, we need more people who will shine for Christ and let others see Him through us! I thought I'd share with you 4 quick things about shining for Christ.

1.) {Why do we shine?}
We shine to glorify our Father in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16) We shine to bring good to others! When we shine, we bring glory to God. That's what it's all about. It's not about us! All that we do should turn people's heads toward God.

2.) {What do we shine?}
We don't have anything in and of ourselves to shine. (Romans 7:18) Anything we have comes from God! Shine Jesus Christ. We need to have a daily personal relationship with Him. If we don't have a relationship with Him, how can we shine for Him?

3.) {Where to shine?)
A: In our homes- The light that shines the farthest shines the brightest at home. Oftentimes we shine outside of our home, but at home we're dull. We need to shine for Christ in our home first and foremost! B: In our church. We need to shine for Christ and be a positive influence and example to those in our church family as well. C: Shine for Christ in your community. Let others see Him in you!

4.) {How to Shine}
Start with the inner man-the inner part of you. (1 Peter 3)
• We can shine for Christ through prayer.
• We can shine for Christ through love- love God and others with a pure heart, a clean conscience, and a faith that is real.
Develop a true love for Jesus Christ. That is what makes our light shine. We may know The Lord, but do we love him? It's better to love The Lord than to only know him!

I hope this was a help to you in some way! Have a great rest of the day! God Bless!

-Our Words-

Your words can make or break someone. We need to choose them wisely! I myself am guilty at times to have a uncontrolled tongue. There are always consequences to follow any harsh, mean, and untrue words that come from our mouth. We should strive every day to speak as though the Lord hears every word we say to anyone. Because he does.
I wanted to do a quick study on types of speech we should have, and types of speech we shouldn't have.

Two types of speech we should have:

1.) A Controlled Tongue.
Those with this speech pattern think before speaking, know when silence is best, and give wise advice.
Proverbs 10:19; 11:12-13; 12:16; 13:3; 15:1; 17:14  (KJV)

2.) A Caring Tongue.
Those with this speech pattern speak truthfully while seeking to encourage.
Proverbs 10:32; 12:17-18; 15:23; 16:24; 27:9 (KJV)

Two types of speech we shouldn't have:

1.) A Conniving Tongue.
Those with this speech pattern are filled with wrong motives, gossip, slander, and a desire to twist the truth.
Proverbs 6:12-14; 8:13; 15:4; 16:28; 18:8; 25:18; 26:20-28 (KJV)

2.) A Careless Tongue.
Those with this speech pattern are filled with lies, curses, quick-tempered words-- which can lead to rebellion and destruction.
Proverbs 10:18 & 32; 11:9; 12:16 & 18; 17:9, 14 & 19; 20:19; 25:23 (KJV)

I hope this helps you the way it helped me. Thanks for reading!

Are you trusting Him?

We've all heard the old saying.."Find a penny, pick it up, all the day you'll have good luck."
But, here's a new thought on that. On every United States coin there is an inscription. "In God We Trust"  Think about it! God is Holy, even on a coin!! When I find a coin lying around, I feel that God is dropping a message right in front of me, telling me to trust Him.
Girls, trusting God is not a decision we make one time during a church service. It's something we need to do moment by moment, every day, in every circumstance. So, every time we see that coin just laying there on the ground, let's ask ourselves "Am I trusting God in everything?"

~*I can Trust Jesus, I can trust Jesus, He never once has failed to meet my needs. He is my strong tower, the strength in my weakest hour. I can trust Jesus, He takes care of me!*~

I pray everyone has an amazing day!!
